Peat Island
I was honored to help the Peat Island community, specifically the locals from the Hawkesbury River area, in creating a series of sketches to propose a new vision for the island. Their efforts, carried out in conjunction with the Aboriginal Land Council in New South Wales, Australia, aim to reimagine Peat Island as a place of cultural connection and renewal.
The proposed vision celebrates its riverside heritage and river-edge identity, emphasizing the importance of water as a shared lifeline for both local and Aboriginal communities. It’s about honoring maritime traditions, embracing the island’s layered history, and creating spaces that speak to belonging, memory, and placemaking.
It was a pleasure to contribute to this vision alongside my friend Lindsay Johnston, who has been deeply involved in representing the community’s aspirations.
